Essential Documents for UPSC Prelims and Mains Exams
Preparing for the UPSC exams can be a daunting task, but one aspect that often gets overlooked is the importance of having the necessary documents in order. Whether you are appearing for the UPSC Prelims or the UPSC Mains, there are certain documents that you must have with you. In this blog post, we will discuss the documents required for both exams.
UPSC Prelims
The UPSC Prelims is the first stage of the UPSC exam. It consists of two papers – General Studies Paper 1 and CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) Paper 2. To appear for the UPSC Prelims, you will need the following documents:
- UPSC Prelims Admit Card: This is the most important document that you must have with you on the day of the exam. It serves as your entry ticket to the examination hall. Make sure to download and print multiple copies of the admit card.
- Valid Photo ID Proof: You will also need to carry a valid photo ID proof, such as Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving License. The ID proof should have your photograph and signature.
- Passport-size Photographs: Carry a few passport-size photographs with you. These photographs will be required for various purposes, such as affixing them on the answer sheets or for identity verification.
UPSC Mains
If you clear the UPSC Prelims, you will be eligible to appear for the UPSC Mains. The UPSC Mains is the second stage of the exam and consists of nine papers. The documents required for the UPSC Mains are:
- UPSC Mains Admit Card: Similar to the Prelims, the Mains admit card is a crucial document for the exam. Make sure to carry multiple copies of the admit card and keep them safe.
- Photo ID Proof: Carry a valid photo ID proof, such as Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving License. The ID proof should have your photograph and signature.
- Passport-size Photographs: Carry a few passport-size photographs with you for various purposes, including identity verification.
- Printed Copy of DAF (Detailed Application Form): The DAF is a detailed form that you need to fill after clearing the Prelims. Make sure to take a printed copy of the DAF and carry it with you to the Mains exam.
- EWS Certificate (if applicable): If you belong to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category, you will need to carry a valid EWS certificate issued by the competent authority.
It is essential to have all the required documents in order to avoid any last-minute hassles or disqualification from the exam. Make sure to double-check the documents before leaving for the exam center. Good luck!
